Employment Level
Tenured/Tenured Track
Employment Type
Full Time

The position includes a 2/2 teaching load and producing/directing one theatre production each semester.  Selection of courses and productions will be based on the applicant’s strengths and interests, and on departmental need. Millsaps faculty members are teacher-scholars; support for research/creative development and travel is available.

A terminal degree in theatre, preferably an MFA, is required.  The area of specialization is open, with preference given to a focus in directing or acting and to candidates who are interested in producing work that engages Millsaps’s diverse student population and elevates the perspectives of traditionally underrepresented groups. The college is committed to developing a new performing arts space, so we are seeking candidates with the vision to lead this process. At present, we are producing shows in found/alternative spaces, so candidates with experience or interest in working in such spaces will be especially competitive. This position will be the only full-time theatre instructor at Millsaps for the near future; there are ample opportunities for collaboration with colleagues in Music and English.  The college will support hiring short-term specialists needed for productions.
