Position Summary:

The University of Alaska Southeast (UAS) invites applications for a tenure track assistant professor of accounting position within the Department of Business and Public Administration (BPA). Expected start date is August 2022. Juneau has a diverse population of approximately 32,000 and is the capital of Alaska. The UAS business program is ACBSP accredited. The position requires a flexible schedule of online teaching (with potential for on campus classes), as well as involvement in service and professional activities. Duties:

 

Primary duties are to teach four undergraduate accounting and/or finance courses each fall and spring semester in an online format, or face-to-face during the day and/or evening. Faculty hold office hours each week, advise and mentor students, and are proactive and collaborative in developing and modifying curriculum. In addition, candidates will participate in departmental and university service, as well as public service, and will engage in continuing professional development.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Qualified to teach in one or more areas of accounting as well as financial management at the undergraduate level. Ability to coordinate internships with local employers and be an effective faculty advisor to accounting program students. Outstanding teaching and excellent communication skills are required.

REQUIRED EDUCATION OR TRAINING:

Position Requirements:
Masters degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or related field, with accounting and financial management backgrounds, professional work experience in accounting, and a professional certification (e.g. Certified Public Accountant, Certified Managerial Accountant, etc.).

OR

Ph.D. or DBA with an emphasis in accounting or closely related area. ABDs will be
considered; however, ABDs will be expected to complete their degree before or by
August 2022.

Salary: Competitive and commensurate with experience and education

This is a full-time, 9-month (with optional summer course assignments), exempt, UNAC faculty position with a full UA employee benefits package.
