About the Job  

The Data & Analytics Manager is a full-time, exempt, remote position that works out of the Office of Digital Strategy and Analytics and reports to the Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Digital Strategy and Analytics. The Data & Analytics Manager will manage the data & analytics department, which helps the University with the creation of new reports, analysis of data to answer business questions, and maintenance of existing reporting systems.

The Data & Analytics Manager will gain an understanding of the needs of departments throughout the University and assist with the design, development, and deployment of data-driven solutions to support those needs. This position is expected to act as a partner to business users, working closely with them to understand their processes and developing appropriate solutions.

We’re looking for candidates who have: 

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems (CIS), Management Information Systems (MIS), Business Analysis or equivalent employment experience.
  2. Two or more years of management experience is preferred.
  3. Five or more years experience with Microsoft Structured Query Language (SQL) Server in an enterprise environment is preferred. Advanced report development skills including, understanding of SQL Server, SQL Server Management Studio, and Tableau. Advanced T-SQL skills in complex queries, procedures, and functions.
  4. Experience building and working with star-schema data models, preferably using a data warehouse automation tool such as WhereScape RED.
  5. Experience in higher education is preferred.
  6. Ability to provide technical architecture vision and recommend strategy/solutions.
  7. Ability to keep current with the industry trends in Business Intelligence and Data Analytics .
  8. Demonstrated self-starter who can work independently and balance multiple projects while maintaining high levels of productivity.
  9. Excellent interpersonal communication and customer service skills.  Ability to develop and maintain a strong rapport and credibility with the user community.

Key Job Duties

CCU’s mission is Christ-centered higher education transforming students to impact the world with grace and truth. In this role, the Data & Analytics Manager contributes to the mission by leveraging data to help the University be more efficient and effective. 

Management

  1. Manage the data & analytics team (three employees) and oversee all aspects of business data, analysis, and reporting for the University.
  2. Partner with departments to find data-driven solutions to optimize their processes and fulfill the mission of the University.
  3. Assist the other Data & Analytics team members with translating business needs into reporting requirements.
  4. Partner with all levels of management when requested to gain a thorough understanding of the information needs from a business and technical perspective and create decision support systems accordingly.
  5. Responsible for the day-to-day management of the Data & Analytics Team.

Data Analysis and Data Management

  1. Enhance the University’s ability to perform advanced analytics
  2. Perform ad hoc data analysis to meet business unit reporting/data validation needs.
  3. Design and maintain objects for the university enterprise data warehouse using WhereScape RED and T-SQL.
  4. Identify opportunities for improved data management and delivery as well as influencing the design and development of data analysis and reporting.
  5. Ensure reports and data sets answer key stakeholder questions and provide critical insight to allow business leaders to make informed, data-driven decisions.
  6. Assist in source data identification, data quality definition, transformation and summarization processes with other Information Systems departments.
  7. Oversee the installation, maintenance and technical support of required reporting systems and other related vendor products.

External Reporting 

  1. Assist with the preparation of regulatory data reports such as Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS), National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Higher Learning Commission (HLC), and others. 
  2. Assist with data preparation for external ranking surveys such as U.S. News & World Report, Petersons, and others.
  3. Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Environment  

While performing the duties of this job, you may be required to walk, stand, sit, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, speak with clarity, and have appropriate vision and hearing capabilities. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. You may be required to work occasional irregular hours, including some nights and weekends. Colorado Christian University expects all faculty and staff to become a part of the University community by participating in activities and events that occur on the campus throughout the year, which may occur during evenings and weekends.
