MSSU is currently seeking candidates for a Cataloging & Technical Services Librarian tenure track Assistant Professor Position in the George A. Spiva Library starting July 1, 2022, in Joplin, Missouri. Successful candidates should provide leadership and direction for cataloging and technical services; perform original and copy cataloging for a variety of formats; and ensure database integrity for institutional records. Reviews and recommends new workflows as technologies change. Maintains cataloging policies and procedures and makes recommendations for improvement. Direct and train library staff (students and paraprofessionals) in duties such as receiving, shelving, researching, cataloging, and equipment use. Compiles statistical data, and works with MOBIUS personnel to comply with consortial standards. Uses metadata and specialized software, including Innovative Interfaces Inc. software and EBSCO Discovery Service, to incorporate content.

An MLS or MLIS from an ALA accredited institution and a minimum of two years professional library experience demonstrating a progression of responsibilities, management and leadership abilities are required. Experience with MOBIUS, Innovative Interfaces Inc. (III) software and experience with EBSCO Discovery Service or another discovery service tool. Demonstrated customer-service orientation and strong attention to detail.
