Online Programs Advisor



Position Announcement

Reporting within Adult and Professional Education, and in collaboration with Program Directors, College Deans, and Academic Advisement, the Online Programs Advisor assists in the recruitment, program matriculation, academic advising, and general learner support activities associated with select online programs. Provides a concierge-like service in supporting new and current students throughout their online program experience. Responsibilities
  • Serve as the principal and initial source of information regarding assigned online programs for prospective and current students.
  • Assist students through the inquiry, registration, program matriculation, and graduation process for select online programs. This includes:
    • Navigating the different academic paths while building relationships to encourage future enrollment.
    • Gathering and maintaining data within the student database, including notes, for use in daily, weekly, monthly and yearly reports.
  • Liaise with students and support agencies to aid in the success of the student.
  • Research individual student records, verify data, and troubleshoot problems using Banner Student information system, EAB Navigate student success management system, and Slate Customer Relationship Management system.
  • Strategically plan degree pathways with students from all backgrounds and experience.
  • Prepare and report on enrollment, processes, graduation, and outcomes as defined by supervisor and academic department program liaison.
  • Attend professional development opportunities for advisement and the college; serve on various university committees.
  • Coordinate with the Registrar’s Office and other higher education institutions to help students navigate the transfer process and the successful articulation of courses.
  • Compose personalized communications to students while utilizing template components and incorporating current marketing messages. Create and maintain email templates for select DSU Online Programs.
  • Provide feedback, recommendations, and ideas for improving the overall online student experience.
  • Support projects and initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • At least two years’ experience in high-volume customer service required; experience working with diverse populations, in higher education and/or academic advising preferred.
  • Proven ability in using Microsoft Word and Excel, databases, and cloud applications (Google, OneDrive, etc.).
  • Experience with computer information systems, including a CRM system, desktop applications, online processes, and data processes preferred.
  • Demonstrated understanding of, and ability to follow, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to respect others, share information appropriately and offer assistance as necessary.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work well with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Ability to build rapport with prospective and existing students and provide timely, accurate information.
  • Ability to be team player, while individually setting goals and prioritizing work to maximize efficiency, meet deadlines, and handle escalating issues calmly and appropriately.
  • Familiarity with Dixie State University, its history, mission, policies, procedures and programs is preferred.
  • Knowledge of foreign languages and cultures, as well as working with adult learning and/or first-generation learners, is highly desirable.
Supplemental Information

POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Full-time professional staff (overtime-exempt) position. Annual salary of $38,500+ depending on qualifications & experience. Desired start date of January 2022.
