Job Summary
JCCC is searching for non-credit instructors to teach English to non-native speakers by emphasizing reading, vocabulary development, listening, speaking, writing, grammar, workplace skill, civics, digital skills & general life skills. This position may include on-line teaching as well as in-person classroom teaching. This is not a faculty, adjunct or remote position. These positions are not on the main JCCC campus. Applicant must be willing to learn and implement prescribed curriculum and submit weekly lesson plans to the lead instructor.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Education (K-12), English as a Second Language or related area.
1-year experience teaching non-native English speakers in a classroom setting (not tutoring).
Proficient in Microsoft Office, on-line resources, classroom technology
Ability to create and implement lesson plans
Ability to create and maintain a student-centered classroom
Ability to work with multi-level non-traditional learner
Ability to work a flexible schedule
Ability to work a demonstrate classroom management skills
Ability to teach in an on-line environment using Zoom and Google Classroom
Ability to be flexible and operate in a constantly changing teaching environment
Preferred Qualifications
TESOL certificate from an accredited university or Master’s degree in teaching ESL/ELL/ESOL.
Ability to work with a diverse adult student population.
Ability to teach in a student-centered classroom for 3-hour sessions where cooperative learning is emphasized.
