Summary of Position:
Wesleyan University seeks applications for the new Clapp Endowed
Chair of Computer Information Sciences on the Marion, Indiana
campus starting by Fall 2022. This Chair is a full-time permanent
faculty position supported by an endowment that reduces the
teaching load to an average of 9 credits per semester and provides
an extra stipend for scholarly endeavors and program development.
Appointment will be at the rank of Professor or Associate Professor
based on education and experience. The Chair will have broad
opportunity to define this new position and apply its resources to
strengthen the CIS Department and his or her own professional
The Division of Mathematics and Computer Information Sciences
offers majors in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems,
Mathematics, Mathematics-Interdisciplinary, and Mathematics
Education, minors in Computer Science, Mathematics, Actuarial
Science, and Statistics, and also teaches pre-engineering and
general education courses. The Division is also pursuing majors in
Data Science and Engineering. The Division has 6.5 full-time
faculty and approximately 55 major students.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Job responsibilities include teaching a reduced load (averaging
9 credits per semester) of undergraduate computer science courses,
scholarship (preferably involving undergraduates), student
mentoring, building partnerships with regional industry, curriculum
development, and university service.
Qualifications: According to Indiana
Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a
strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in

- Possession of or pursuing an earned doctorate in Computer
Science or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated ability to work with colleagues who represent a
diversity of work and conflict resolution styles.
- Prior undergraduate teaching experience preferred.
