Job Description:

Student engagement: Serves as a career coach to advance career and professional development for specific populations. Designs and delivers customized programming, niche career fairs, workshops and resources to advance specific populations of students in their career readiness and strategic success outcomes based on their career interests. Provides career planning appointments and coaches students individually or in groups regarding various work and experiential learning opportunities, networking and mentoring; Career Connections Center resources and services; and job search strategies based on industry clusters. Helps prepare students for post-graduation success through professional and employ-ability skill development. Infuses globalization and intercultural competencies into career education and experiences. Develops marketing materials or customizes existing Career Connections Center materials for specific populations based on career interests.

Faculty engagement: Builds relationships and creates connections with faculty and staff to integrate career development into their curricula and advising efforts in relation to industry clusters. Educates faculty and staff about career resources based on industry clusters and collaborates to deliver resources to students via classroom presentations and workshops. Maintains regular communication with faculty and staff and attends key meetings to have a presence in appropriate colleges and units. Exchanges information and referrals between the college and the Career Connections Center related to student engagement, career development, industry trends and academic learning.

Industry engagement: Engages with employers in specified industries to create connections and gain knowledge and insights to share with students about hiring trends, interviewing strategies, recruiting timelines, career path options, etc. Facilitates employer participation in industry education activities such as workshops, outreaches, events, and conferences. Works with Recruitment Relations team to connect students with industry. Manages relationships with specific industry partners to increase employment connections with UF candidates and prepare them for the workplace.

Industry research/analysis: Collects data from internal and external sources and monitors industry sectors including tech, science, and engineering to identify emerging business, growth and employment trends, and to forecast future opportunities for students. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of employment trends and appropriate career development expertise. Tailors programs and services and communicates to faculty and staff based on data collected and industry trends.

Career Center Initiatives: Plans and executes initiatives that align with the Career Connections Center’s strategic priorities to advance career development and experience/opportunities for students. Leads the Career Connections Center initiative on industry engagement with international students. Creates programming for students and employers aligned with initiative. Creates resources and programming that can be customized for different populations surrounding the initiative. Collaborates with Career Connections Center staff to lead and carry out projects, events, and assignments.

Evaluation and tracking: Responsible for tracking, assessing and evaluating efforts and runs outcome reports for employer outreach, student success, engagement, and connections for relevant populations to create narrative about impact of services. Aids in collecting and maintaining accurate and timely quantitative and qualitative data for various types of interactions for assessment and reporting purposes to demonstrate impact. Creates data reports after major events to showcase details and shares with appropriate audiences. Shares best practices, industry trends and college-specific information with the Career Connections Center.

Performs other administrative duties as assigned by the supervisor and higher authorities in the department and division. Lives out the career center’s values in all aspects of their job functions.

Expected Salary:

50,000.00

Minimum Requirements:

Master’s degree in an appropriate field and three years of experience or a bachelor’s degree and five years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Training: Certified Career Services Practitioner (CCSP) to be obtained within the first year of employment.

EDUCATION & TRAINING: Master’s degree in marketing, social sciences, student personnel, or human resources (HR)

EXPERIENCE

- Two (2) years of experience (minimum) in stakeholder engagement, marketing, sales, career development, career counseling, or HR

- Experience working inclusively with diverse populations

KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of industry relations, employment trends, student development, career services, marketing, and outreach strategies

SKILLS

- Skilled in computer applications

- Facilitative skills - Interpersonal skills

- Good presentations skills, listening skills, helping skills, relationship management, and program development

ABILITIES: Ability to work independently and contribute to a team
