The University of Oklahoma (OU) is seeking faculty colleagues during 2021-22 who will be the initial hires as OU launches its Childhood Wellbeing research initiative. During this first hiring cycle, a total of 4 positions will be filled; two in the College of Education (with Early Childhood content expertise) and two in Arts &Sciences (Sociology with a focus on Trauma/ACEs/SEL and Psychology with a focus on Intensive Data Analysis and Innovative Measurement). The goal is to build a cross-campus center of excellence to make OU a national leader in transdisciplinary research dedicated to promoting children’s wellbeing with a focus on equity.


Description: The position in Psychology is part of a department multi-year strategic hiring and growth initiative in Applied Psychological Science. Specifically, the Department of Psychology at OU is seeking applications for a faculty opening at the rank of Assistant (tenure-track) or Associate Professor (tenured) in Quantitative/Data Analytics Psychology. The ideal candidate will have expertise in innovative measurement (e.g., dynamic factor models, longitudinal modeling, dynamical system analysis), study design (e.g., adaptive intervention trials), and/or analytics (e.g., machine learning/artificial intelligence) that leverage intensive data collection tools such as ecological momentary assessments (EMA), wearables, and psychophysiological assessments (e.g., EEG). Candidates should have evidence of high-quality scholarship in Quantitative/Data Analytics Psychology through published research, willingness to engage in interdisciplinary research, and potential to secure external funding in multiple areas including but not limited to childhood wellbeing, health, and data science. This position aligns with the department’s strategic emphasis on health and wellbeing as well as OU’s Office of the Vice President for Research and Partnerships strategic research emphases (“verticals”) involving health and community transformation (https://www.ou.edu/research-norman) and new Data Institute for Societal Challenges (https://www.ou.edu/disc).

Qualifications: To be considered for this position, candidates must have a Ph.D. in Psychology (by August 2022, the time of appointment) or a closely-related discipline with broad expertise in Quantitative Methods, with a strong preference for candidates whose research involves innovative measurement, study design, and/or analytics that leverage intensive data collection tools such as EMA, wearables, and psychophysiological assessments that can be applied to understanding childhood health, wellbeing, and resilience. Candidates must also have the potential for excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching in statistics and quantitative methods and be prepared to expand course offerings in their area of specialization. The assigned teaching load will be two courses per semester. Experience or evidence of capacity for collaboration on funded research in health and wellbeing outcomes in youth involving multidisciplinary teams is a highly preferred qualification.
