Assistant Professor of Biology

Augustana University, a selective, private, liberal arts institution in Sioux Falls, SD, invites applications for a full-time, continuing-track Assistant Professor position in the Biology Department beginning Fall 2022. This primarily teaching position will encompass a variety of classes in our current departmental offerings. Candidates are required have a Ph.D. in a biologically-related field by the start of the position. 

Teaching Expectations: Courses will be assigned based on departmental needs from semester to semester, but will generally include lectures and labs for human anatomy and physiology as a primary responsibility, along with introductory biology courses for majors and non-majors as needed. The position will also require preparatory and organizational leadership for the anatomy and physiology labs.  While experience in any and all of these areas is a plus, a demonstrated dedication to undergraduate education and a willingness to be flexible is the primary expectation for this position.  The typical load entails 2 lectures and 4 labs each semester and 1 lecture over the January term.  Summer teaching opportunities outside of the base teaching load are also available.  Student academic advising is also an expectation of the position.  Research is not an expectation for this position.

Salary: Salary is competitive and dependent upon qualifications; excellent fringe benefits are included.
