This home-based position, in the Atlanta Georgia area, serves as an active participant in multicultural undergraduate student recruitment, selection and yield activities to help foster and expand upon the diversity of the Emerson community.

Your Team: Undergraduate Admissions

Your Manager: Sr. Associate Director, Regional Recruitment

Your Essential FunctionsRecruit a highly qualified and diverse pool of students (freshman and transfer) to apply to the university by developing and implementing effective recruitment and outreach plans (50%).
  • Participate as a member of the Undergraduate Admission team.
  • Review and analyze multiyear demographic and enrollment trend reports and work with the Senior Staff to plan and implement targeted multicultural recruitment activities in a defined geographic region, primarily in the Southeastern region of the U.S. (GA, TN, AL, MS, SC), with additional territories assigned, as needed.
  • Participate in debriefing exercises to assess the success of recruitment and outreach efforts.
  • Help identify new ways of reaching out to and gathering contact information on prospective applicants.
  • Represent the College at career and college fairs, community-based organization and high school recruitment presentations, community college recruitment presentations and special recruitment and yield events.
  • Convey key institutional messages to prospective applicants and parents. Serve in a public relations and information role with prospective applicants, their parents and high school counselors. Demonstrate how the institution can help meet prospective applicants' academic and career goals.
  • Cultivate professional relationships and serve as the institution's primary admissions contact with school counselors, independent counselors, community-based organizations, transfer counselors, and other influencers in the region.
  • Serve as liaison to on-campus departments and off-campus organizations to help increase the number and quality of applications.


Help ensure the admission of a highly qualified first-year class by serving as an active participant in the evaluation and selection process (35%).
  • Read, utilizing a holistic approach, first-year applications to determine admissions eligibility by evaluating academic and non-academic credentials based on established criteria.
  • Make admission decision recommendations on applicants who apply to the college using high levels of independent judgement.
  • Analyze, make recommendations, and participate in the holistic decision-making process on candidates whose applications need further review.


Your Other FunctionsSupport the overall work of the department (15%).
  • Read transfer applications for applicants when necessary.
  • Participate in virtual information sessions.
  • Serve as liaison to designated academic programs and coordinate special programs as assigned.
  • Assist with selected special events/projects (e.g., admitted student weekends and visit days, high school counselor tours, receptions, etc.).
  • Involve current students and key student organizations in recruiting, as appropriate.
  • Help identify long-term recruiting goals, strategies, and innovative ways to recruit talented diverse students from the defined geographic region.
  • Collaborate in the development of promotional and marketing efforts, publications, etc.
  • Keep abreast of pertinent developments at the college, in higher education, and in the field of professional admission work.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Your Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Strong knowledge of Atlanta area schools and community-based organizations
  • A minimum of four years of admission experience, in a professional capacity.
  • Knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Valid driver's license, or ability to obtain valid driver's license


You'll Be Preferred with...
  • Bilingual ability
  • Previous experience with a student information system, preferably Technolutions Slate
  • Previous experience working in a remote position
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the undergraduate experience at a small liberal arts institution.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with high school students, their families and college counselors in a variety of settings, to speak and write clearly and persuasively and to interact with people from diverse backgrounds. Must be sensitive to multicultural and socioeconomic issues.
  • Willingness and ability to travel a minimum of 12-14 weeks per year, and the flexibility to work on weekends and evenings, as needed.
  • Ability to work remotely with access to reliable high-speed internet.
  • Ability to read and holistically analyze applications, high school transcripts, recommendations, and more.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, to prioritize, and to achieve goals and objectives.
  • Ability to utilize high levels of independent judgement in all capacities of the work conducted.

Grade of Position: A16E

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 36.25

Hiring Range: $61,350.00 - $64,300.00
