Associate/Full Professor in Population Aging and Health

The Social Science Research Institute and the Population Research Institute (PRI) at the Pennsylvania State University invite applications for a tenured faculty member (Associate Professor or Full Professor) in the area of Population Aging and Health.

PRI is an interdisciplinary hub for population science with 100 affiliated faculty from eight colleges and five campuses around the state, as well as external partners and affiliates around the world; PRI research is also advanced and supported by 16 research and administrative staff members. PRI's overall mission is to advance the scientific understanding of human population dynamics. To achieve its aims, PRI provides forums for learning and exchange, project development assistance and seed funding, and cost-effective state-of-the-art research support services. More information about PRI can be found at: http://www.pop.psu.edu.

The successful candidate will collaborate with faculty in the PRI and elsewhere across the University and beyond to develop novel research initiatives on the demography of aging, diversity across aging populations, and health disparities across the life course. They will be expected to develop and maintain an energetic, cutting-edge, highly visible research program; advise graduate and post-graduate research; develop and maintain extramural funding for their research program; and teach graduate and undergraduate courses as appropriate. Specific expectations for teaching, research and service will be aligned with responsibilities of the tenure home and determined at the time of the appointment.

The successful candidate will have an outstanding publication and external funding record in population science, including from the National Institutes of Health, and a strong interest in building Penn State's portfolio of population aging and health disparities research. The successful candidate will hold a tenured appointment at the level of full or associate professor in the most relevant academic department within one of three colleges: Liberal Arts, Education, or Health and Human Development; joint appointments are also possible. PRI is a dynamic research community committed to fostering diversity, equality, and inclusion in all areas.

This position requires the following clearances: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.

To apply, submit cover letter, curriculum vita, the names of three references, and other supporting materials electronically. Review of applications will begin mid-January 2022, but applications will be accepted until an appropriate candidate is found.
