ANNOUNCEMENT:  Southwestern Illinois College is accepting applications for the full-time, tenure track faculty position of Assistant Professor of Art. The anticipated start date is August 2022.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:  Teach a variety of 2-D courses and lecture art courses, including Two-Dimensional Design, Drawing, Painting, Computer Art, and Art Appreciation and Western/Non-Western Art History. Teach a variety of 3-D studio courses, including Three-Dimensional Design, Sculpture and Ceramics.  Experience with 3-D printers and other related technology in the studio is desirable. Opportunities exist for participating in professional development activities and serving as needed on committees within the department, division and college.

 QUALIFICATIONS: 

1. MFA strongly preferred, but Master’s degree in closely related area with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in discipline required.
2. Successful teaching experience in higher education is strongly preferred.
3. Ability to work effectively in a variety of the studio art courses is desirable.
4.   A strong regional and national exhibition record.
5. Knowledge of and ability to incorporate creative software into traditional studio courses.
6. Experience in outcomes assessment is preferred.
7. Experience in working with diverse student populations is preferred.
8.   Experience with computer-based and Internet (online distance learning) instruction preferred.
9. The successful candidate shall meet the minimum instructor requirements established by the Board of Trustees for all assigned courses.

 STARTING SALARY:  This is a nine-month teaching position with the salary determined by placement on the base salary schedule.  The actual salary is determined by educational level and placement on the appropriate salary schedule.  Overload and summer teaching assignments may also be available which may increase the annual compensation.  The college offers a comprehensive flexible benefit program.

 WORK LOCATION:  Belleville Campus/Red Bud Campus/Sam Wolf Granite City Campus
