The Department of Civil and Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University Fort Wayne (PFW) invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in mechanical engineering starting in August 2022.  Higher rank candidates may be considered for this position.

The Civil & Mechanical Engineering (CME) department offers three-degree programs: B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, B.S. in Civil Engineering, and M.S. in Engineering.  The department currently has 9 full-time faculty members and approximately 310 undergraduates and 15 graduate students.  The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in controls, mechatronics, robotics, as well as engineering fundamentals within the First-Year Engineering program.

Candidates must have a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering and have earned a doctorate degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related area by the time of appointment.  Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and to providing outstanding classroom and laboratory instruction.  Candidates must have the potential to develop a scholarly research program and establish an externally funded research program in their area of expertise.  Candidates are expected to participate in service activities at the academic, professional, and/or community levels. Candidates should include any relevant industry experience in their application.
