Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice

The Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice at Kennesaw State University invites applications for two nine-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice positions to begin August 2022.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses in our undergraduate and graduate criminal justice and/or cyber security programs. The current standard teaching load is nine credit hours per semester. Faculty in the department teach in a variety of modalities, including face-to- face, hybrid, and online. Courses may be taught on the Kennesaw or Marietta campus and are offered during daytime and evening hours.

The successful candidate will also be expected to maintain a productive research agenda and seek opportunities for external funding. Strong scholarship, along with a commitment to excellence in teaching and engagement, is expected of all tenure-track faculty members in the Radow College of Humanities and Social Sciences at KSU. Service to the Department, College, and University is also expected.

An earned Ph.D., or the foreign equivalent, in Criminal Justice or a closely related field is required. ABDs will be considered, but the Ph.D. must be earned prior to the starting date.

The department is seeking applicants with a demonstrated record of teaching excellence, impactful research, and a commitment to diversity and inclusion. The successful candidate will also demonstrate a promising research agenda with the potential for external funding.

While the area of specialization is open, preference will be given to candidates with expertise in

1) Cyber Crime/Security or 2) Policing and/or Race, Crime, and Justice. Experience teaching core undergraduate criminal justice courses is a plus.

Scholars with research experience and interest areas that complement those of current faculty and research initiatives, including those associated with newly created Radow Institute for Social Equity and the Institute for Cybersecurity Workforce Development, are of particular interest.

Preference will be given to applicants with experience working on collaborative research teams and/or experience with externally funded research projects.
