Position Summary Designs and delivers instruction in undergraduate computer science courses with a focus on Cybersecurity offered by the School; participates in all departmental, various school, and University-wide tasks and activities, including student recruitment and academic advising. This position is tenure track. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepares lessons and provides instruction for coursework required for undergraduate computer science students. 
  • Adheres to the established class, office and exam schedules. Submits contracts, book requests, syllabi, grades, evaluations, and other required paperwork and reports by due dates.
  • Participates in curriculum and program development work of the department and university general education core. 
  • Remains knowledgeable of current scholarly/research activities in computer science field by reading journal articles, attending professional conferences, and maintaining relationships with other fellow scholars and/or researchers in computer science field.
  • Provides effective academic and career advising for students and participates in their scholarship activities. 
  • Participates in University-wide committees and professional development activities.  
  • Supervises and evaluates student interns as necessary.  
  • Represents the University by developing and maintaining strong relationships with profit and non-profit organizations.  
  • Other duties as assigned by the Dean.  
Education, Certifications and/or Licenses
  • Ph.D. in computer science or closely related field is required. 
Experience
  •   Experience teaching at the university level using active learning techniques and best practices classroom content delivery is preferred.

 

  Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Thorough understanding of computer science and its application in the classroom.
  • Evidence of excellence in and commitment to teaching college-level computer science courses.
  • Ability to teach a variety of computer science courses.
  • Familiarity with academic policies and procedures of higher education institutions.
  • Ability to work effectively with other University personnel.
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Ability to provide service to both the University and the community. 
  • Ability to comply with rules, standards, regulations and laws related to student records.
  • Ability to adhere to University and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Ability to be discreet in handling confidential and sensitive matters while complying with FERPA regulations.
  • Ability to demonstrate and provide excellent service to both the University and the community.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, papers, and periodicals.  
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and professional papers.   
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups including students and colleagues. 
  • Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching at undergraduate level and quality research are required.  
  • A strong commitment to a global perspective and serving a diverse student body..
  • Ability to teach and develop a broad range of Cybersecurity courses. 
  • Ability to conduct office hours.
