Job Summary
Reporting to the Video Monitor Center Specialist. The Video Surveillance Technician is responsible for examining multiple monitors for suspicious, threatening, or illegal activity that potentially threatens property and people. This position is skilled in identifying and analyzing suspicious behavior.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Performance Requirements*
- Provides information captured through the video data system equipment to authorized persons within the TCCD organization in accordance with standard operating procedures, current legislation, General Orders, and District Policy to maintain the integrity of recorded images, data, or records
- Answers non-emergency calls from police dispatch during critical incidents
- Proactively uses video data or other systems to monitor actual and/or potential problem areas including using systems software to observe and detect suspicious activities/incidents and retrieve recorded data
- Relay information as required
- Follows operating procedures to prevent the misuse, falsification, corruption, or improper disposal of recorded images, data, or records from the video data systems equipment
- Monitors incidents in conjunction with Police Communications personnel and responders through the video data systems to capture images and coordinate response with the team during vehicle stops, emergencies, in-progress crimes, and other relevant circumstances
- Carries out reviews of system recordings, as requested by authorized individuals, and make still images, video, or digital copies to enter as evidence
- Provides evidence statements for police and other authorities in court relating to images and information gathered during monitoring activities
- Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
- Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through the Tarrant County College ( TCC ) Institute

SUPERVISION – Works under the general supervision of Video Monitor Center Specialist.

Required Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures
- High school diploma or ( GED ) equivalent
- Must pass a background investigation
- Must obtain CJIS Certification upon hire
- Must be 18 years or older at the time of employment
- Felony convictions and disqualifying criminal histories are not allowed
- Must be able to read and write the English language
- Must be of good moral character and of temperate and industrious habits
- Experience working with computerized systems
- Ability to document all video data systems activities in a clear, legible written format
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality on sensitive information
- Ability to compose, type, and edit correspondence as required
- Knowledge of modern law enforcement principles, procedures, techniques, and equipment
- Skilled in operating the tools and equipment listed above
- Ability to learn the applicable laws, ordinances, and department rules and regulations
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, peers, and supervisors
- Ability to exercise sound judgment in evaluating situations and in making decisions
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to learn the District’s geography
- Skilled in excellent customer service and interpersonal skills with diverse populations
- Uses interpersonal skills, thinks, reasons, and makes sound judgments to decide how duties and responsibilities are completed
