The School of Drama within the College of Fine Arts at Carnegie Mellon University invites applications for a full-time faculty member (open rank, tenure-track) in Anti-Racist and Equitable Practices in Theatre.

We seek a dynamic, student-centered faculty member who can guide a foundational course that orients all incoming undergraduate and graduate students (averaging 80-90 students per year) to Anti-Racist and Equitable Practices in Theatre. Depending on area of expertise, the faculty member may also instruct courses in their subject area and/or advanced courses in anti-racism and equitable practices, as well as advise students on production work. We are hungry for this new colleague to also keep the greater faculty informed of what the students are learning, so that reinforcement in all areas can occur; this may take the form of faculty & staff sessions and/or community-wide gatherings. (The position ideally starts August 2022 and is Pittsburgh based.)

Applicants should have training/experience in instructing or facilitating workshops around anti-racism, anti-oppression, equitable practices, and decolonial practices in theatre and education; proven capacity to craft, build, and instruct/facilitate effective courses and sessions based on that training; and a proven record of leading expansive discussions and crafting a welcome learning environment for a diverse and potentially cross-generational community.

Review of applications will begin on Dec 1, 2021 and close on December 31, 2021; early application is encouraged.
