Assistant Professor or Associate Professor of Curriculum and Instruction Department of Elementary and Early Childhood Education

 

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a nine-month, tenure track Assistant Professor or Associate Professor of Curriculum and Instruction faculty position in the Department of Elementary and Early Childhood Education beginning August 1, 2022.

 

Responsibilities Include:

 

  • Clinical Supervision
  • Teaching undergraduate and graduate elementary and early childhood foundational courses (e.g., curriculum, child development, classroom management, assessment, educational research) and other related courses as needed
  • Modeling effective teaching practices
  • Maintaining an active research and scholarship agenda
  • Service to the department, college, university, community, and profession
  • Program development/accreditation expectations
  • Building mutually beneficial community partnerships
  • Working with diverse communities
  • Mentoring students, in particular BIPOC students
  • Dissertation/thesis supervision

 

 

Required Qualifications Include:

 

  • An earned doctorate, or foreign equivalent, in curriculum and instruction or related field, with at least 18 graduate credit hours in elementary and/or early childhood education by hired date of August 1, 2022
  • At least three years of teaching experience in early childhood settings and/or elementary school settings
  • Evidence of a commitment to working in an environment that values diversity, inclusion, and collaboration
  • Demonstrated experience and dedication to the preparation of Birth through grade 5 teachers for diverse learning environments
  • Evidence of the ability to conduct scholarly activity
  • Ability to use and model technology in the classroom and/or virtual settings Preferred Qualifications Include:
  • Knowledge and teaching experiences in social emotional learning or child development
  • 9 – 18 graduate credit hours in child development
  • Experience teaching undergraduate or graduate courses centering on issues of child development, educational theories, classroom management, educational research, social justice, or equity in education

 

  • Evidence of teaching and/or research with culturally, ethnically, and/or linguistically diverse communities
  • Evidence of, or potential for, mentoring teacher candidates in ages birth through 5 (B–5) and/or kindergarten through grade 5 settings
  • Evidence of, or potential for, mentoring undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students, in particular BIPOC students
  • Evidence of, or potential for, service contributions at the department, college, university, state, or national level
  • Experience in teaching and/or developing online instruction
