The Drama, Theatre & Dance Department at Queens College, the City University of New York, is accepting applications for an Assistant Professor of Directing. This is a full time (9 mo.) tenure track appointment. Responsibilities include teaching courses in all levels of directing, and courses in one or more of the following: play analysis, devised theatre, digital media in performance, theatre as social practice, and acting and performance. In addition, the successful candidate will direct for our main stage season, advise and mentor students, work with MFA playwriting students, and engage in committee service. Maintaining a robust continued career of professional directing in LORT, Off-Broadway, and similar venues is an essential component of this position, and is required to achieve tenure. Queens College is planning a new School of the Arts, and candidates with experience in administrative leadership in developing MFA programs are encouraged to apply.
