Job Summary:

The Center for Educational Opportunity (CeO) is looking for an innovative, creative, collaborative leader who utilizes data, experience, and their passion for supporting student success to join our team. The CeO Associate Director - Student Support Services (SSS) STEM-Health Sciences assists in the operations of the center and directs the implementation, evaluation, and monitoring of services, programs, and other activities that support persistence and retention of program participants. This position supervises two advisors and the CeO writing and study skills specialist. This role assists in the development of strategic planning initiatives to ensure appropriate use of financial, administrative, and staffing resources, and alignment with the strategic plan. This role aids in the development of operating policies and procedures to comply with regulations, institutional policies, and program goals and objectives. The Associate Director serves as proxy for the director when needed and strives to cultivate a welcoming, equitable, and inclusive work environment.

This position reports to the Director of the Center for Educational Opportunity.

The scope of the position occasionally requires work in the evenings and on weekends.

This position is federally funded. The continuation of this appointment is dependent on the renewal of the 5-year TRIO grant.

Qualifications:

Required:
- At least 2 years of experience in higher education.
- Evidence of ability to motivate, supervise, and delegate to staff.
- Experience providing educational services to low-income, first-generation college students, students with disabilities, or students of color in higher education.
- Familiarity with and understanding of the social, economic, cultural, and other factors that affect the educational progress of program participants.

Preferred:
- At least 2 years of supervisory experience; supervision of students is acceptable.
- Graduate and/or undergraduate academic background in STEM.
- Demonstrated knowledge of current research on recruitment, retention, and achievement gaps in K-12 and higher education - particularly related to STEM and health sciences.
- Experience with TRIO programs (Upward Bound, Talent Search, McNair Post-baccalaureate Achievement Program, Student Support Services, etc.) or similar programs.
- At least 2 years of advising experience in higher education.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to consult, counsel and liaise with a wide range of people from culturally diverse backgrounds.
- Experience in cultivating learning environments that value diversity.
- Commitment to innovation, continuous learning, and improvement.
- Knowledge of TRIO federal regulations, budget management, and implementing federal or other educational grants.
- Experience with program evaluation and assessment.
- Strong writing skills and ability to analyze and write reports based on student data and outcomes.
