Position Purpose

The Center for Technology and Behavioral Health ( CTBH ) at Dartmouth College is seeking two Research Assistants (RAs) to join a newly funded study exploring the retention, duration, and discontinuation of medication treatment for opioid use disorder ( MOUD ) in patients receiving care in Lebanon, NH. The study is focused on testing strategies to 1) improve retention in MOUD and 2) explore successful discontinuation of MOUD .

Under the direction of the Research Coordinator, the RAs will be key members of the study team and will provide critical research and administrative support to the local investigative team during all phases of the study including start-up, patient recruitment, data collection, retention, and study closure. The RAs will have direct contact with patients and provide information that will assist them in their decision to participate and remain in the study. The successful candidates must be able to communicate effectively about study-related matters with a wide variety of individuals, maintain confidentiality regarding patient information and study data, possess strong attention to detail, and demonstrate excellent organizational skills.

The project is managed by the Northeast Node of the Clinical Trials Network ( CTN ), spanning the rural communities of Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont. The CTN provides a unique research infrastructure for conducting practical, rigorous, and highly impactful trials focused on improving the treatment of substance use disorders (SUDs) and promoting widespread implementation and sustainability of effective and accessible SUD care in community systems across the nation. The Northeast Node is based out of the CTBH at Dartmouth College. The RAs will work alongside the study Research Coordinator and under the direct supervision of the Project Manager and under the overall supervision of the CTBH and Northeast Node Director, Dr. Lisa Marsch.

The RAs will primarily work within an office-based setting in Lebanon, NH.

Note: Continuing employment is based on the availability of grant funds.

Bachelors plus 3-5 years' experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

* Bachelor’s degree in human services related field, or the equivalent.
* Three plus years of experience in health care, social service and/or field research, or the equivalent.
* Prior research (especially clinical trials) experience.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and as a team member.
* Meticulous attention to detail; organized, efficient, and able to handle competing priorities.
* Must hold a valid driver’s license and be qualified under the terms of the Dartmouth College Driver Safety and Motor Vehicle Policy

Preferred Qualifications

* Previous project-related work including prior work with study population and/or previous experience with substance use research.

Description

Recruits and enrolls potential participants, collects study data, and performs all study activities according to study protocol, study manual of procedures ( MOP ) and local standard operating procedures (SOPs); conducts the informed consent process and, as appropriate, obtains authorization(s) for release of information; assists study medical personnel in screening participants for study eligibility and randomizing eligible participants; schedules participants for study visits and tracks participants (e.g., performing routine outreach, keeping in close touch with participants and collecting extensive locator information); maintains accurate data on forms and tracking sheets; responds to all data queries as applicable.

Supports project leadership team by performing administrative activities including the development of study documents, coordination of regulatory approvals, preparation of presentations, and file organization; provides administrative support at project team meetings through regular attendance, maintenance of meeting notes, development of meeting materials, providing technical/audio-visual support, and scheduling; effectively communicates study protocol and research goals to Node affiliates and partners through professional verbal and written communication.

Completes training in Human Subject Protection ( HSP ) and Good Clinical Practice ( GCP ), as well as protocol-specific training for RA role; performs other duties as assigned.
