Position Summary: The University of Dayton is seeking a dedicated, and community centered Staff Therapist to serve in the Counseling Center. The therapist is responsible for providing individual and group therapy, emergency walk-in support, after hours crisis intervention as part of a rotation, outreach, and supervision of graduate trainees (when credentialed to do so). Through an approach of prevention, education, treatment, and care, the Counseling Center team is missioned to provide a positive impact on the mental health and wellbeing of all students through services that promote resiliency, capacity building, and facilitate optimal student development and growth. The Counseling Center actively contributes to the university's holistic approach to mental health and suicide prevention through integration of the UD Step Care Model and the Division of Health and Wellbeing. The ideal candidate for this position will hold strong ethics regarding client confidentiality, serve as a generalist to help students who present with a wide range of clinical presentations, and understand the importance of being available some evenings and weekends to best serve students. To achieve success, the candidate must be dedicated to reducing barriers to care that exist for communities of color, the LGBTQ+ community, and other marginalized groups. Further, a commitment to understand and support the University of Dayton's distinctive Marianist tradition and educational vision, as well as a willingness to model institutional values of service to others, community, and diversity are imperative. Minimum Qualifications:

- Current clinical independent licensure in Ohio as a Psychologist or Masters Level Practitioner (LISW, LPCC, LMFT) or transferability within one year for out of state licenses.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the mental health needs and concerns of a young adult-aged population
- Possess experience in crisis intervention and emergency management within a clinical setting
- Demonstrate experience and commitment to facilitating groups, including process, psycho-education, and support groups
- Demonstrate experience working collaboratively with various constituents
- One or more years working in a counseling center, or similar setting that serves young adults
- Articulate passion for promoting holistic wellbeing and enhancing student learning
- Excellent written communication skills, ability to write concise, clear and logical clinical documentation
- Ability to work on an on-call basis as a part of a 24/7 crisis response system that may require the person to respond to campus or a hospital /mental health facility after hours
- Flexibility in implementing outreach programming during business hours, the evenings, and weekends to best meet student needs
- Capacity to independently manage a variety of tasks with frequent interruptions and shifting priorities
- Experience documenting work an Electronic Medical Records system
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team

Preferred Qualifications:

- Demonstrated success in engaging underrepresented communities programming and treatment.
- One or more years of training experience providing clinical supervision
- Demonstrated integrity, dependability, sound judgment, and resourcefulness to establish and maintain collaborative, positive, and effective working relationships with multiple constituency groups
- Demonstrated ability to work with a range of culturally and ethnically diverse populations, and evidence of commitment to fostering equity, inclusion, and a collaborative multicultural environment
- Ability to thrive in an environment that values high expectations, accountability, service in leadership, and balanced lifestyles

Special Instructions to Applicants:

A federal court on December 7, 2021, issued a ruling that suspends the COVID-19 vaccine requirement that applies to federal contractors nationwide. With this development, the University will pause any enforcement action against employees who have not complied with the requirement to be fully vaccinated by Dec. 8, 2021 or to have requested an exemption to maintain their employment status.

The University will continue to monitor the state of the pandemic on campus and in the community as well as developments in federal and state requirements, and also will continue to regularly consult with public health officials and our medical panel. As has been the case throughout the pandemic, our protocols and requirements are subject to change depending on conditions on campus or in our community, and government requirements.
