Job Description: 

The Austin W. Marxe School of Public and International Affairs at Baruch College invites nominations and applications for a senior level appointment as an associate or full professor of higher education.  The position has tenure or accelerated tenure-track status, depending on qualifications. 

The successful candidate will have a strong record of scholarship in higher education that merits appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor. The areas of research within higher education are open. However, preference will be given to applicants with specialization in one or more of these areas: student affairs, management, or social justice. The search committee will consider candidates who have made their careers in the academy as well as those who have worked at senior levels of higher education organizations or relevant stakeholders organizations. Candidates must have a doctorate in a relevant discipline.  The successful candidate must have demonstrated ability to teach courses in the Master in Higher Education degree program (MSEd-HEA) to a diverse student body. The candidate may also be asked to teach core or elective classes in their area of expertise in one of the School’s other degree programs. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the Higher Education program, helping to shape the strategic direction of the program and advise students. Along with Marxe School colleagues the candidate will share responsibility for committee and School assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions. 

Baruch College of the City University of New York is a public, urban institution with an enrollment of approximately 20,000 students. Given one of the largest public affairs faculty in the nation and our interdisciplinary approach to teaching, research, and professional development the Higher Education Administration (HEA) program provides an opportunity for faculty and students to connect with the fields of public and international affairs.

Qualifications:

An earned Ph.D. or equivalent degree in higher education or related field

• Demonstrated scholarship in higher education or related discipline
• Demonstrated commitment and ability to teach students from diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds
• Evidence of teaching effectiveness in multiple modalities
• Evidence of capability to enhance the Program, School and College
