Baruch College - Associate or Full Professor of Higher Education

Job Description:

The Austin W. Marxe School of Public and International Affairs at Baruch College invites nominations and applications for a senior level appointment as an associate or full professor of higher education.  The position has tenure or accelerated tenure-track status, depending on qualifications.

The successful candidate will have a strong record of scholarship in higher education that merits appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor. The areas of research within higher education are open. However, preference will be given to applicants with specialization in one or more of these areas: student affairs, management, or social justice. The search committee will consider candidates who have made their careers in the academy as well as those who have worked at senior levels of higher education organizations or relevant stakeholders organizations. Candidates must have a doctorate in a relevant discipline.  The successful candidate must have demonstrated ability to teach courses in the Master in Higher Education degree program (MSEd-HEA) to a diverse student body. The candidate may also be asked to teach core or elective classes in their area of expertise in one of the School’s other degree programs. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the Higher Education program, helping to shape the strategic direction of the program and advise students. Along with Marxe School colleagues the candidate will share responsibility for committee and School assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions.

Baruch College of the City University of New York is a public, urban institution with an enrollment of approximately 20,000 students. It views itself as a catalyst for the economic and social mobility of its graduates. Within that context, The Marxe School offers undergraduate (BSPA) and graduate-level degrees in public policy and administration (MPA), and higher education administration (MSEd-HEA) and international affairs (MIA). The Marxe School also houses cutting-edge policy research programs including the CUNY Institute for Demographic Research, the New York Federal Statistical Research Data Center, and the Center for Nonprofit Strategy and Management. Given one of the largest public affairs faculty in the nation and our interdisciplinary approach to teaching, research, and professional development the Higher Education Administration (HEA) program provides an opportunity for faculty and students to connect with the fields of public and international affairs.

The College is committed to attracting and retaining a diverse faculty. CUNY encourages people with disabilities, people from historically excluded groups, veterans and women to apply.
