The College is seeking a highly motivated associate campaign officer to leverage and support high level volunteers and their networks for the final and critical phase of the $750M Dare Northward Campaign, the largest campaign in liberal arts college history. This key position offers a unique opportunity to be part of an ambitious and transformational campaign in support of complex initiatives. Reporting to the chief campaign officer, the associate campaign officer will serve as the primary engagement liaison with the Campaign Cabinet and other College leadership groups. Bringing to the role a sense of urgency combined with exceptional strategic and organizational acumen, the associate campaign officer will help keep the campaign on schedule and progressing with a high level of visibility and momentum that engenders a sense of excitement, optimism, and confidence in achieving the campaign goal. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
  • Work closely with the Campaign Cabinet, College leaders, trustees, and others to develop and execute campaign strategy
  • In collaboration with the Chief Campaign Officer, provide strategic direction and project management for the campaign: define and track income targets, projections, and KPIs, and produce calendar for campaign milestones
  • Ensure campaign implementation stays on track and meets-and-exceed goals
  • Fully leverage data to develop ongoing research and analytics related to campaign goals and progress across all areas of the Division of College Advancement
  • Create and manage campaign dashboard, including monthly update to monitor performance on goals
  • Provide activity reports and assist with developing revenue forecasts
  • Lead the coordination of campaign-related proposals, reports, meetings, and events so that they are executed at the highest level, keeping the campaign in the public eye and maintaining its momentum
  • Develop and execute a communication plan for cabinet members and lead donors to include:
    • Facilitate screening and rating meetings
    • Set up meetings via Zoom or in person with volunteers
    • Coordinate volunteer activity prior to and after planning calls
    • Gather follow-up messages and actions from volunteers
    • Ensure follow-up steps are carried out
  • Collect best practices and lessons learned, draft frequent notes or briefings for the use of divisional colleagues and key volunteers so that approaches are holistic and coherent with overall campaign goals
  • Establish strong working relationships with senior colleagues including the Provost, President and other Vice Presidents across campus in support of all campaign initiatives and communications
  • Partner with all areas of the division including Advancement Operations, Prospect Management and Research, and Advancement Marketing and Communications to gather and share information required by volunteers as they carry out their work
  • Develop and oversee annual stewardship for leadership gift donors to the Dare Northward Campaign
  • Perform additional duties as assigned; duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice
QUALIFICATIONS :
  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in education and experience
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience envisioning, shaping, and implementing a successful philanthropic program
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and long-term while successfully attending to more immediate goals and tasks; strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including strong relationship skills and ability to work with people across a wide range of levels of power and influence
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize information and tailor key points to a variety of constituencies, including ability to prepare succinct and clear financial reports
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to consistently meet deadlines and follow through on assignments in a timely manner, and attention to detail
  • Ability to handle confidential information tactfully and exercise discretion
  • Highly developed computer skills including extensive experience using Microsoft Office Suite; Google Docs; email, web, and database applications, as well as an interest in and ability to learn new computer programs with ease and in a self-guided manner; experience with fundraising software.

KEY RELATIONSHIPS :

Reporting to the chief campaign officer, the associate campaign officer will work closely with the vice president and chief institutional advancement officer, associate vice president for college advancement, Campaign Cabinet, as well as division colleagues.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

General open office and campus environment. Position involves sitting, although frequent movement is necessary. Computer usage involving repetitive hand/wrist motion is also necessary. Ability to move around campus and interact with faculty, staff, students, parents/alumni, and external constituencies regularly is crucial. Travel and work outside of normal business hours are required.
