The RAND Corporation is seeking a Development Coordinator to support RAND Development’s fundraising objectives. Working with the Pardee RAND Graduate School Development team, the Development Coordinator will provide administrative support, stewardship coordination, program and project management. This position will be an integral member of the Pardee RAND development team, working alongside a Director of Development and Associate Director of Development and Alumni Relations to coordinate high level meetings/events, compose briefings/reports, work closely with PhD fellows, and maintain accurate donor records. This position reports to the Executive Director of Development and interacts with RAND and Pardee RAND leadership, donors, researchers, students, and staff, and requires a superb customer service approach, proactive workstyle and growth mindset. While primarily focused on the Pardee RAND Graduate School, there will also be opportunities to work with other development officers on projects across other divisions at RAND.  The successful candidate will be focused and goal-oriented with a high level of initiative, energy, intellectual curiosity and interest in the field of development.  Also important are strong communication skills and a demonstrated ability to interact with donors and other stakeholders in person, on the telephone and in writing in addition to understanding the importance of serving the internal customer.

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting with year-round solicitation campaigns and mailings.

  • Providing donor customer service by interfacing with members of Board of Governors and Advisory Boards and serving as Development’s primary administrative resource to these donors.

  • Assisting with coordinating tasks for RAND fundraising initiatives; including arranging meetings, creating invitation lists, handling mailings, and logistical support for events.

  • Gathering and coordinating information from Pardee RAND students for stewardship and special projects, and ensuring stewardship is conducted in a timely manner

  • Assisting with development and distribution of online and mailed communications to donors and prospects.

  • Conducting basic research on donors and prospects.

  • Scheduling and maintaining calendar of appointments, meetings, and itineraries, including making travel arrangements and processing expense reports.

  • Ensuring the accuracy of donor and alumni information, updating directory memberships, and other records entered into donor database.

  • Working closely with the Advancement Services team to create reports beneficial to Pardee RAND development goals

  • Coordinating information flow, preparing materials for distribution, and reviewing/proofreading proposals, reports and other fundraising documents.

  • Assistance with development events including Board of Governors and advisory board meetings.

  • Supporting development officer efforts by understanding needs and managing details that will help ensure successful fundraising initiatives.

 

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Adobe Acrobat Professional and advanced experience with Microsoft Office suite.

  • Strong time/task/project management and organizational skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and communication.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to effectively prioritize to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects concurrently.

  • Ability to work independently and be a self-starter.

  • A high level of attention to detail.

  • A demonstrated ability to interact with donors and other VIPs in person, on the telephone and in writing.

  • Willingness to handle unexpected and last-minute needs.

  • Salesforce or database experience is preferred.

  • Must be available to work events in the evenings and/or weekends occasionally.

  • Prior experience working in Development/Fundraising environment is strongly preferred.

 

Education

High School Diploma required; BA/BS preferred
