Athletics Learning Specialist – Part Time



Position Summary: This part-time position will be responsible for working with the head Learning Specialist and academic coordinators to meet the needs of student-athletes and may work with student with learning disabilities, low academic preparation, and other identified needs. The individual will assist with academic preparedness and progress towards graduation and will collaborate with head Learning Specialist to structure and implement a learning assistance program for select student-athletes. This position will work one-on-one and in small-group settings to support in the development of independent learners. Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in education or closely related field;
• Demonstrated experience positively and effectively interacting with individuals from diverse social, cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds;
• Proven ability to provide intensive academic support and academic skill-building to students;
• Demonstrated ability to teach learning strategies to students;
• Demonstrated ability to be extremely organized;
• Experienced and able to manage a large amount of sensitive information efficiently and effectively in a timely manner;
• Proficient computer skills including Zoom;
• Able to demonstrate experience in tutoring/teaching; and
• Able to demonstrate excellent written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in education or closely related field;
• Demonstrated understanding of effective learning strategies and study skill development;
• Experience working with student-athletes in a collegiate setting;
• Experience working and communicating with other professional educators; and
• Able to demonstrate excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills;
• Experience teaching college-level math courses including calculus and statistics
