Donor Relations Writer



Position Summary: As part of the Donor Relations department within University Advancement, the Writer will be tasked with a variety of projects that support and enhance the University’s comprehensive campaign, fundraising, development and stewardship goals. These include:
● Create compelling content for letters and emails acknowledging gifts to the University of Dayton. Assist with acknowledgement management.
● Develop reports that relay the impact of a donor’s gift(s).
● Write proposals to inspire funding for University of Dayton programs and initiatives.
● Utilize impactful storytelling in all Donor Relations communications and materials (i.e. emails, letters, blog and website). Assist with content management.
● Write and/or edit content for events, such as event invitations, speeches and promotional materials.
● Review and/or edit scholarship student letters of gratitude prior to donor delivery.
● Edit various Advancement Division content, as needed. Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in journalism, marketing, communications, English or related field.

Stellar writing and editing skills.

Ability to communicate empathy, gratitude and philanthropic impact.

A cover letter and solid portfolio demonstrating a range of writing for different purposes.

Strong interpersonal skills and a high comfort level for reaching out to various campus partners to acquire information for projects.

Preferred Qualifications:

One or more years paid writing experience.

Ability to work within InDesign, when provided with templates.

Knowledge of AP style. Knowledge of educational environment.

Commitment to UD's Catholic and Marianist mission.

Experience in meeting and managing deadlines.

Demonstrated collaboration skills, including experience as a member of a creative team.
