Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Dean, Instructional Support Services in collaboration with Learning Assistance Services (LAS) faculty coordinator, oversee the face to face and online activities of tutors assigned to Academic Success Center or other designated learning center at the Higher Education Centers.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
  • Monitor tutor and tutee interactions. Provide guidance in creating and ensuring productive interaction which leads to successful tutor sessions.
  • Assist LAS tutors in meeting their designated responsibilities. Assist and remind tutors of LAS timelines for tutor diaries, evaluations, and other forms and materials.
  • Assist students in the use of the Pay-For-Print (PFP) system including how to use the card management center to place funds on an individual or guest PFP account
  • Provide tutoring assistance, instruction, and guidance to students and instructors in the use of the Internet including how to search for, evaluate and cite information.
  • Provide instruction, guidance and assistance in the use of the SARS (multi-user scheduling program) system including how to log on, entering and scheduling appointments and selecting the type of tutorial services provided.
  • Serve as a liaison between the designated ITC, the LAS Coordinator, District Tutorial Coordinator, and the HEC deans, promptly informing each of issues or problems that need to be addressed.
  • Assist with LAS presentations and workshops as needed. Prepares written materials for distribution to promote tutorial services.
  • Provide tutoring within subject areas designated in the instructor's B.A, B.S, M.A., or Ph.D. degrees and in concordance with the Minimum Qualifications for Faculty and Administrators in California Community College and Title 5 regulations.
  • Maintain familiarity with and provide instruction, guidance, and assistance to students and instructors on the use of Canvas and/or other college designated course software, used for online and hybrid courses. use of a variety of software applications, including but not limited to those programs used in computer labs across the campus.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to a diverse population of students and staff in terms of academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic background.

Education and Experience:


Minimum Qualifications: (Faculty and Academic Administrator Positions Only)
A master’s degree level discipline in which learning assistance or tutoring is provided at the college where the coordinator is employed.

Desirable Qualifications:
  • Experience tutoring (individual and/or group) and/or tutoring programs.
  • Complete ED 100: Tutor Training—Level 1 to become familiar with the application of the philosophy and strategies of effective tutoring, particularly the use of The Twelve Step Tutoring Cycle in individual tutoring and a computer lab setting.


Salary
$68.76-$75.42 per lecture hour AND $57.08-$62.60 per lab hour
