Job Description:
The Payroll Manager works closely and collaboratively with the Director, Payroll & Benefits Accounting, through the completion of audits and reports, to ensure that the College’s payroll is consistently administered in compliance with company policies, procedures, and government regulations. This position also provides functional leadership to staff.
Duties & Responsibilities:
•Processes the College-wide bi-weekly payroll
•Administers the College-wide Time and Absence
•Calculates and oversees the timely submission of the College’s
monthly retirement file
•Reviews payroll controls for accuracy pertaining to wages, taxes,
tax payments, and ACH wire transfers
•Prepares numerous reports including, but not limited to, State and
Federal reports, unemployment reports, quarterly taxes reports, and
third party sick leave reports
•Performs monthly reconciliation of various general ledger
accounts
Minimum Requirements:
•Master's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance
or related field from a regionally accredited institution and two
(2) year of work experience in accounting or payroll; or Bachelor's
degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or related
field from a regionally accredited institution and five (6) years
of progressive responsible work experience in accounting or
payroll
•Knowledge of Federal and State laws relating to payroll, taxes,
and employment
•Knowledge of the payroll aspects of employee benefits policies,
procedures, and reporting requirements.
•Knowledge of financial/business analysis techniques.
•Knowledge and understanding of all facets of accounting and
payroll principles, methods, systems, and procedures as applied to
public institutions.
•Knowledge of all relevant payroll, employment, and income tax
laws, regulations, and operating guidelines.
•Ability to utilize and manage automated payroll and/or human
resources information systems.
