Position Summary

The College of Continuing Education, Career & Professional Education unit delivers academic credit and non-credit professional development courses and programs to diverse adult learners and industry sectors. Courses are delivered in a variety of modalities (online and classroom) offered at Sacramento State locations as well as on-site at business and government offices.
Under the general supervision of the EES I, EES II or designated HEERA manager, the ASC II is responsible for the planning, delivery, promotion, evaluation, and tracking of various courses, programs, workshops, seminars, and special events with a high level of complexity. The ASC II is assigned programs that are in development and/or in curriculum revision phases, requiring a higher level of responsibility and critical thinking. The senior program coordinator serves as lead in meetings with other departments regarding courses, recommends changes to current processes, serves as a point of contact for program information (internally and externally), represents the program at industry events, and provides training to ASC I and students assistants. The senior program coordinator will also be responsible for documenting unit level procedures and best practices, supporting the development of new programs and revising existing programs. The senior program coordinator's responsibilities are completed using both established policies and procedures and major deviations from these processes. Supervisory review is sought for any extreme deviation prior to implementation. The supervisor sets broad goals and objectives for the position.

FLSA: Non-Exempt

CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,352 - $5,639 per month

Hiring Range: $3,352 - $4,496 per month

Salary Grade/Range: 1035-COORDINATOR II-Grade-2

Recruitment Type: Temporary

Time Base: Full-Time

Pay Plan: 12 months

Work Hours: Monday - Friday 8am-5pm, work hours may vary depending on department operations

Minimum Qualifications

Entry to this classification requires a fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices, as well as an ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures. Additionally, incumbents are expected to have a thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation and be able to clearly communicate orally and in writing. Some positions may require a knowledge of business mathematics beyond basic arithmetic. The ability to use and quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages is also a prerequisite. These entry qualifications would normally be obtained through a high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents combined with several years of related office work experience.

Required Qualifications

EXPERIENCE:
1. Experience in independent performance and responsibility for the coordination, follow up and completion of comprehensive projects or assignments and an understanding of their organizational impact.
2. Experience in performing duties requiring extreme accuracy and attention to detail.
3. Experience in providing broad range of customer service via telephone, e-mail or personal contact.
4. Project management experience.
5. Experience in using independent judgment and decision making.
6. Experience in composing written responses/emails and/or standard reports that demonstrate thorough knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
7. Thorough knowledge of office systems and ability to use a broader range of technology, systems, and packages such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
8. Problem solving, analytical and conflict resolution skills.
9. Team oriented and ability to give lead work direction to support staff.
10. Demonstrated presentation and facilitation skills.
11. Knowledge of principles related to marketing, promotion, and student recruitment.
12. Ability to independently handle multiple work unit priorities and projects.
13. Working knowledge of budget policies and procedures. Ability to perform standard business math, such as calculate ratios and percentages, track financial data, and make simple projections.
14. Interpersonal skills to interact effectively with all levels of staff and external constituencies.

Preferred Qualifications

15. Experience in working with diverse public contact in higher education, professional training, and/or adult education programs.

16. Ability to use Continuity Spectrum (C2K).
