Position Title Associate Athletic Director for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Overview
Partner with key College stakeholders to enhance the capacity of student-athletes, administrators, coaches, and staff of cultural agility. Provide leadership in the department and across the BIG EAST and NCAA in developing strategies that advance the overall goals of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Essential Duties:
1. Work with the offices of Institutional Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and the Student-Athlete Development Team to provide comprehensive DEI education for student-athletes, athletic department staff, and coaches. Educational programs include, but are not limited to, retreats, education sessions, workshops, diversity awareness campaigns, and intergroup engagement.

2. Serve as a member of the Student-Athlete Development Team to develop and deliver a comprehensive four-year program to student-athletes that encompasses the six pillars of The Friar Edge Program.

3. Assist in the development of strategies and processes that promote the hiring, retention, staff morale, and success of a diverse and inclusive staff with a focus on underrepresented and historically marginalized populations. Collaborate with the talent acquisition and workforce development teams to help drive a diverse talent pipeline and assist with integrating DEI strategy into workforce initiatives.

4. Build the Athletic Department’s regional and national network and presence by serving on the BIG EAST, Hockey East, and NCAA Diversity and Inclusion Committee.

5. Partner with the Assistant AD for Video Operations and the Coordinator of Athletic Social Media to communicate the department’s brand, reflecting its mission, objectives, policies, programs, events, and other relevant information regarding Athletic Department DEI priorities and initiatives.

6. Work collaboratively with stakeholders to create and enhance external fundraising opportunities for diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives for Athletics. Marginal Duties:
1. Perform all other duties as may be required. Education and Experience Required
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution required. Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Three to five years of professional-level work experience including a minimum of three years of experience and demonstrated proficiency in developing, managing, and being responsible for diversity, equity, and inclusion planning in a higher education setting or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Experience mentoring and working with collegiate student-athletes.
  • Experience with NCAA Division I college athletics
  • Diversity and Inclusion Committee or council experience at the department, conference, or NCAA level.
  • Experience facilitating education and training sessions and/or presenting training programs.
  • Experience working optimally with individuals from diverse and marginalized communities.
