Kennedy-King offers accessible and affordable, high-quality education to a diverse and vibrant student population.This position is responsible for assisting the Overhead Electrical Line Worker Instructors. For successful entry into the electrical utility trades or apprenticeship programs, the Pole Demonstrator prepares students for the various safety requirements and skills needed for the job. The Pole Demonstrator position directly affects the success of the student. This person tutors and trains all student on Pole techniques, maneuvers and safety.



DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES:

• Main responsibility will be to demonstrate the correct way to ascend and descend an electrical pole following OSHA guidelines
• Work in all weather conditions
• Prepare the electrical yard for all outdoor lab activities, trim brush and remove debris as needed
• Maintain and inventory the electrical equipment and materials
• Distribute equipment to students
• Prepare copies of instructional materials for classroom instruction
• Assist with relocating and/or adding poles in the outdoor lab
• Responsible for all safety policies and procedures
• Physical Requirements
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to fingers to, handle, feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to stand, walk; climb and balance; stop, kneel or crouch and talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Graduation from high school, prefer an Advanced Certificate or Associate Degree.
• A minimum of a Post-Secondary Certificate in Overhead Electrical Line Worker.
• The ability to climb a 65’ pole to line worker’s standards.
• A valid Driver’s License is also required.
