Job Description:

Assist UF CVM students who may be experiencing problems such as substance use, mental or emotional stress, financial difficulty, marital, relationship, or family distress, etc., which could affect academic or work performance, as well as personal functioning. Provide intake, comprehensive clinical assessment, short-term counseling, crisis intervention, consultation, and referral for treatment or other resources within UF or community. Maintain confidential medical records for each patient, and maintain ongoing case management and follow up.

Helps develop strategic plans, goals and measurable objectives for a variety of well-being programs throughout the CVM. Collaborates with key campus and community stakeholders to develop a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to well-being. Manages semesterly student wellbeing events throughout the curriculum. Additional programming may be delivered throughout the year on health and well-being topics relevant to UF CVM population at the coordinator’s discretion. Responsible for developing the content, including associated media (e.g., PowerPoint, handouts, etc.), for any additional programming which may be delivered in both in-person and online settings Collaborates with campus and community subject matter experts to provide students with additional wellness opportunities beyond personal area of expertise. Assist UFCVM Associate Dean for Academic and Student Affairs and UFCVM faculty members as requested in developing appropriate didactic and student training programs for assessing and improving interpersonal communication skills, group dynamics, client communications and related skills.

Assist UFCVM Associate Dean for Academic and Student Affairs and supervisory/management/HR personnel in assessing student performance problems and in interpretation/implementation of UF policies and procedures regarding troubled students. Provide consultation to UFCVM management when a student’s problem or impairment interferes with academic performance. Provide referral services to students and employees, as well as household member utilizing UF-EAP services (as appropriate).

Provide consultation to HR employees, faculty members, staff members, supervisors, colleges, departments, Trauma Response Team (TRT) and Behavioral Consultation Teams (BCT), University Counseling Resource Network (UCRN), and SHCC clinicians.

Expected Salary:

$60,000 - $74,000; commensurate with education and experience

Minimum Requirements:

Professionals with one of the following credentials are qualified to provide psychosocial counseling:
  • Social worker with a master's degree or a Ph.D. in social work from a Certified Social Work Education-accredited school of social work
  • Registered nurse with advanced specialized counseling education and training as a clinical nurse specialist or certified psychiatric nurse
  • Professional licensed to provide clinical, counseling, and psychotherapy services by the Florida Department of Health, Division of Medical Quality Assurance
  • Counselor with a master's degree in counseling
  • Psychologist with a master's or Ph.D. in psychology
  • Master's or doctoral level graduate student intern from an accredited school of social work or a psychology or counseling program, under the supervision of a licensed practitioner qualified to supervise such interns.
Preferred Qualifications:

EDUCATION & TRAINING
  • Doctoral degree in clinical psychology, counseling psychology or counseling from an APA or CACREP accredited doctoral program; and be licensed as a mental health professional or psychologist in the state of Florida.
  • Counselor with a master’s degree in counseling and be licensed as a mental health professional or psychologist in the state of Florida.
  • Certified Employee Assistance Professional (CEAP)
EXPERIENCE
  • Experience working with college students, faculty and staff
  • Experience working in settings with more severe populations
  • Experience in college mental health, including crisis assessment, brief intervention, confidentiality requirements, outreach, referral, and psychological assessment
  • Experience working in a university setting and/or with an employee assistance program is highly desirable
KNOWLEDGE
  • Knowledge of employee assistance programs, administrative duties, case management, and clinical service delivery
  • Familiar with crisis intervention, referral techniques, and effective means of accessing community resources to make successful referrals
SKILLS
  • Administrative and computer application skills required to effectively implement and maintain a case management and tracking system
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated skill in working well under pressure to prioritize and manage multiple clinical situations and to coordinate these efforts as a part of a multidisciplinary team
