Job Summary:
The Department of Chemistry in the College of Science at Purdue
University solicits applications for a Professor of Practice
position at the Assistant Professor level.
Qualifications and Responsibilities:
Applicants must hold a PhD in chemistry or a related field.
Applicants should be committed to excellence in teaching, be able
to teach a broad range of courses in the undergraduate curriculum,
have an enthusiasm for interaction with undergraduate and graduate
students, and have an interest in laboratory development.
Professors of Practice faculty are actively involved in
departmental activities, have professional development
opportunities, and many direct, supervise, practice, and conduct
research and outreach activities. The positions are non-tenure
track faculty positions with multi-year contracts.
Duties of this position primarily focus on upper division chemistry
undergraduate lecture and laboratory courses, although the ability
to teach a range of courses in the undergraduate curriculum is
desirable. Responsibilities include lecture course and laboratory
development, coordinating and managing upper division chemistry
laboratories for chemistry majors, and working directly with
faculty to integrate chemical concepts into these courses. The
department is committed to integrating cutting-edge teaching
technology into laboratory instruction and the Professor of
Practice in this position is expected to continue implementing
these efforts.
