In recruiting for this position, the Classics Department is motivated to broaden the range of scholarly specialties, viewpoints, and experiences represented within our department. Qualified candidates will be able to offer new courses that strengthen the department’s appeal to Dartmouth’s highly diverse student body. We are especially interested in applicants who are able to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff from all backgrounds, including but not limited to racial and ethnic minorities, members of all sexes, individuals who identify with LGBTQ+ communities, individuals with disabilities, individuals from lower income backgrounds, and first generation college students.

Dartmouth College combines a commitment to innovative scholarship with dedication to excellent teaching. Dartmouth’s Department of Classics has eight full-time, tenure-line faculty members with a variety of research interests in languages, literature, material culture, philosophy, and history. We maintain a vibrant academic program that enrolls in excess of 750 students each year. More information about the department can be found at: http://classics.dartmouth.edu/.

All materials are to be submitted via Interfolio. Review of applications will begin on October 15th, 2021 and will continue until the position is filled.
