The University of Georgia Department of Chemistry (chem.uga.edu)
invites applications for a
tenure track faculty position in experimental materials chemistry
(broadly defined), beginning
August 1, 2022, at the level of Assistant Professor.
UGA is a member of the Battelle Savannah River Alliance (BSRA)
managing and operating
the Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL). Faculty have the
opportunity to build
collaborations with SRNL research staff, engage in joint projects,
and participate in joint
appointments as well as leverage co-located facilities, such as the
planned DOE Advanced
Manufacturing Cooperative (AMC) and UGA’s Savannah River Ecology
Laboratory
(SREL). Particular areas of interest include high-performance
materials, functional devices and
assemblies, additive manufacturing, new materials for radiation
detection and other sensing
applications, quantum devices, energy technologies, and
environmental monitoring.
Competitive applicants will have a strong research record,
research plans aligned with areas of
joint UGA and SRNL interest, demonstrate creativity in their
research plans, and exhibit a
commitment to teaching organic, inorganic, or materials chemistry
at the graduate and
undergraduate levels. A Ph.D. in chemistry or related field is
required at time of appointment; 1
to 2 years of postdoctoral experience is highly desirable.
