Provides day-to-day management and direction of all activities, resources and personnel related to optical spectacles distribution.
  1. Supervises, orients and evaluates student clinicians and department staff.
  2. Evaluates optical services provided and recommends changes to improve patient care services.
  3. Identifies, documents and follows up on problems related to operations and patient health care.
  4. Develops and maintains operations policies and procedures, including on-going quality assurance standards and measures.
  5. Oversees the inspection, control and inventory of spectacles; serves as liaison with ophthalmic vendors and determines the leading spectacle suppliers based on quality assurance and patient care.
  6. Participates in on-going education and training activities for students and department personnel.
  7. Prepares and maintains performance evaluation measures and budget requests.
  8. Tutors optometric students and residents.
  9. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

Bachelors and 1 year experience

Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Requires a minimum of one (1) year of directly job-related experience.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

The ideal candidate for this position should possess the following:
  • American Board of Opticianary (ABO) certification
  • 3 years managerial experience in high volume optical
  • Optical lab experience
  • 3 years insurance knowledge
  • Experience billing optical claims
  • Experience working in a high volume optical setting
