The College of Humanities, Education, and Social Sciences invites
applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Journalism
Communication to begin in August 2022. The successful candidate
will serve as Journalism Program Director and Advisor to the
student newspaper, The Gannon Knight, and will teach
undergraduate Journalism courses including news, feature, and
sports writing. Expertise in Media Law, Media Management, and First
Amendment Issues is preferred. There may be an opportunity to teach
at the graduate level in the Strategic Communication program, and
collaboration with Gannon's nationally recognized radio station
WERG is encouraged.The successful candidate will advise students
and prepare them intellectually, professionally, and personally,
and will be expected to engage in scholarly activities in keeping
with the Boyer Model of Scholarship as is appropriate to the
application and receipt of promotion at Gannon. Requirements
include an earned doctorate in Journalism or a related field
(completed by the time of appointment) and mastery of the Adobe
Creative Suite software (InDesign, Audition, and Photoshop) with
demonstrated teaching excellence in higher education. Candidates
must be able to support and promote the University's inclusive
Mission, its Catholic identity, and its liberal arts and
professional education traditions.
