Non-Tenure Track Position in Human Dimensions of Organizations
College/School/Unit: College of Liberal Arts
Department: Human Dimensions of Organizations
Posted: Aug 31, 2021
Apply By: Aug 31, 2022
Description
Human Dimensions of Organizations (HDO) in the College of Liberal Arts at The University of Texas at Austin teaches students to apply lessons from the humanities and social/behavioral sciences to workplace contexts. HDO (hdo.utexas.edu) offers a BA, an MA, and professional training. Applicants to this position will be considered for a teaching position (long-term or short-term) in the undergraduate program.
We are currently looking for a faculty member who can teach an undergraduate course in qualitative and quantitative methods (see HDO's course descriptions here: https://hdo.utexas.edu/requirements-courses/). This is a required course for HDO majors. The position will also allow faculty to teach a topics-centered course tied to their research specialty on occasion.
These positions carry with them an administrative component tied to HDO's mission. This may include duties such as teacher training, curriculum development, student advising, research, faculty outreach, graduate faculty support, etc.
HDO offers a unique opportunity to create innovative coursework and teach courses on the cutting-edge of liberal-arts pedagogy.
This is a full-time position with a 3/3 teaching load and the possibility for periodic summer teaching. Ideally, this position will begin in Fall 2021, but we will accept applications until the position is filled. Positions are renewable annually, contingent upon budgetary funding and performance.
Qualifications
A PhD in a humanities or social/behavioral sciences field and a record of teaching excellence are required. Experience teaching and/or conducting research on the applied nature of the humanities and/or the social/behavioral sciences is also preferred. This is a security sensitive position; a background check will be conducted on the applicant selected.
Application Instructions
Please submit a cover letter, a current curriculum vitae, a sample syllabus from past teaching, and three letters of recommendation.
Equal Employment Opportunity Statement
The University of Texas at Austin, as an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer, complies with all applicable federal and state laws regarding nondiscrimination and affirmative action.
