Position Summary

The International Affairs Analyst (Administrative Analyst/Specialist - Exempt I) provides support to the Associate Vice President of International Programs and Global Engagement (IPGE) in all areas of Global Initiatives. The incumbent will lead Faculty and Staff Immigration Services, provide budgetary support, as well as support for international partnerships and the University Committee on Internationalization. This position serves as IPGE's primary point of contact for all university faculty and staff immigration matters including the Hl-B, 0 and TN visa processes, PERM and the tracking of international agreements/partnerships.

FLSA: Exempt

CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,897 - $7,051 per month

Hiring Range: Anticipated hiring range within the classification range is $3,897 - $4,685 per month, commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.

Salary Grade/Range: AA/S E I, Grade 2

Recruitment Type: Regular

Time Base: Full-Time

Pay Plan: 12 months

Work Hours: M-F 8-5. Hours may vary based on department needs.

Minimum Qualifications

Entry to this classification requires general knowledge and skills in the applicable administrative and/ or program field with a foundational knowledge of public administration principles, practices, and methods. This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor's degree and/ or equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/ or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practice, or programs.

Required Qualifications

Experience:
  1. Experience work in a higher education setting.
  2. Experience with HlB, 0 and/ or TN visas.
  3. General knowledge of Prevailing Wage and PERM processes.
  4. Experience compiling and assembling financial and statistical reports.

Knowledge / Skills /Abilities:
  • Working knowledge of a comprehensive international programs office.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate in a clear and polite manner, including in­person, email and telephone.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to coordinate with individuals at all levels of the organization and act as a representative to outside entities, as needed.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Proficiency using office technology including office software packages (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively a diverse environment.
  • Ability to contribute to the completion of broader and more complex organization or program projects and goals.
  • Ability to analyze and address problems using reasoning and the interpretation and application of theories and principles to develop and recommend alternatives and best course actions.
  • Ability to understand and interpret complex principles and regulations related to H-lB, 0 and TN visas.
  • Ability to provide budgetary support such as monitor, analyze and reconcile budgets and/ or develop budget projections.
  • Ability to generate financial reports and/or prepare financial transactions (e.g. requisitions/purchase orders, invoices, work orders, budget/ expenditure transfers, and reimbursements).
  • Working knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Ability to exercise a high level of confidentiality and sound judgment.

    Preferred Qualifications

    18. Basic knowledge of applicable university infrastructure, policies and procedures.

    19. Experience working with international students, faculty and staff.

    20. Competency in a foreign language.

    21. Experience working with United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) regulations governing non-immigrant students and foreign workers.

    22. Experience living, studying or working overseas.

    23. Working knowledge of CSU and University policies and procedures related to international students and faculty.

    24. Working knowledge of International Education Agreements.
