Position Summary

The Administrative Support Assistant II (ASA II) provides staff support for the Department of Recreation, Parks &Tourism Administration. The incumbent works directly with the Department ASC II. The incumbent performs general receptionist duties, assisting faculty, staff, recreation professionals, community members, and students, including phone, email, and walk-in inquiries. Provides information on all programs and program requirements, and maintains supply of support information and program-related documentation and forms utilizing the department's website. The incumbent is expected to work under pressure with frequent interruptions while prioritizing assignments in order to meet deadlines. They are expected to deal cordially and professionally with visitors to the office from a diverse population. The incumbent must maintain confidentiality of materials and information received within the office.

Performs range of tasks including basic to moderately complex work assignments. Prioritizes assignments and balances work responsibilities in accordance with University Policies and Procedures.

Utilizes knowledge of University Systems (CMS, CFS, Cognos, ASTRA, etc.) and applies general knowledge of office methods/systems to support department processes, adheres to department procedures. Assists with department purchasing. Refers student to appropriate programs and resources (CHHS Student Success Center, Well, PARC, etc.) as needed. Incumbent serves as front line contact for department, serving other campus and community individuals. The position also requires problem solving in consultation with supervisor.

Incumbent supports faculty with assorted clerical duties. Maintains files and supply inventories.

Composes simple correspondence and distributes correspondence and mail. Posts/maintains job announcements. Handles written and verbal communications confidentially and professionally with little or no supervision.

FLSA: Non-Exempt

CSU Classification Salary Range: $2912.00- $4592.00 per month

Hiring Range: $2912-$3331 per month

Recruitment Type: Regular (probationary)

Time Base: Full-Time

Pay Plan: 12 months

Work Hours: M-F 8-5 This is an on-site position.

  • Minimum Qualifications

    Entry to this classification requires fundamental written and oral communication skills, including a sound foundation in English grammar, spelling, and punctuation; an ability to understand standard office procedures; an ability to operate standard office equipment; an ability to learn office technology systems; an ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations; and typing and keyboard skills.

    These entry qualifications would normally be obtained through completion of a high school program or its equivalent and some experience in an office environment.

    Required Qualifications

    1.Ability to use digital imaging equipment (e.g. camera, video camera, scanner), and web browsing software

    2. Ability to maintain databases and spreadsheets

    3. Fluency in using standard office software packages (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint,

    Outlook, Adobe)

    4. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks, and independently handle

    multiple priorities and projects

    5. Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to provide good customer service to diverse

    campus and community individuals (off-campus professionals and prospective students), and convey

    information clearly and accurately

    6. Thorough knowledge of English grammar, punctuation & spelling

    Preferred Qualifications

    7. Knowledge of the field of Recreation, Parks & Tourism Administration

    8. Knowledge of CSUS student support services including CHHS Student Success Center, Student Service

    Center, Counseling and Psychological Services, Financial Aid, Bursar's Office, Admissions, EOP, New

    Student Orientation, Peer and Academic Resource Center, Writing Center, Children's Center, Food Pantry

    9. Familiarity with Sacramento State admissions processes for undergraduate and graduate programs

    10. Fluency in using software including Microsoft Office applications; CSUS applications including Adobe Sign,

    CMS HR/SA, CMS/CFS, COGNOS, ASTRA, Cascade, SacSend Messaging, New City Media software,

    OnBase. Familiarity with Add/Drop Procedures and ProCard purchasing; Visitor Parking Permits, Space

    Management and Union/Well Request Procedures, Reprographics procedures.11. Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop
