Position Summary
Under the general supervision of the Dean of the Library, the incumbent's primary responsibility is to elevate communication, event planning and the educational and development activities for the university library. This position requires considerable discretion and judgment to effectively carry through on decisions and duties in a broad range of administrative areas.
FLSA: Exempt

CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,897 - $7,051 per month

Hiring Range: $3,897 - $4,300 per month

Recruitment Type: Regular (probationary)

Time Base: Full-Time

Pay Plan: 12 months

Work Hours: 40 hours/week. Schedule to be determined at time of hire.

Department Information

As the center of campus intellectual discovery, the Sacramento State University Library promotes teaching, learning, research, and scholarly communication at the University by integrating the Library with campus student success programs and instruction. One of twenty-three libraries in the California State University System, the Sacramento State Library holds over 1.4 million volumes, comprised of print and electronic monographs and serials, and is a Federal Document Depository. The Library's mission is to inspire excellence in teaching, learning, and scholarly activities.

The University Library is undergoing rapid transformation with a forward-thinking vision and a deep commitment to improving the campus learning environment. Minimum Qualifications

Entry to this classification requires general knowledge and skills in the applicable administrative and/or program field with a foundational knowledge of public administration principles, practices, and methods. This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs.

Required Qualifications
EDUCATION: 1. Bachelor's degree in a related field and/or equivalent training and administrative work experience. EXPERIENCE: 2. Communicating policy, procedures, and practices. 3. Coordinating events in a professional setting. 4. Experience with university development, fundraising, and/or donor outreach 5. Working knowledge of software applications such as: Microsoft Office software, Google Docs, Internet and e-mail. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: 6. Ability to monitor event and labor expenditures to remain within allowable budget and follow procurement guidelines. 7. Able to write and clearly communicate library marketing messages 8. Solid understanding of library operations 9. Ability to complete work using relevant knowledge to determine the best course of action 10. Ability to employ analytical, problem-solving and independent decision-making skills 11. Ability to perform accurately in a detail-oriented environment; handle multiple work priorities, organize and plan work and projects 12. Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive communications with employees and external agencies 13. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within and outside the work group and work in a team environment 14. Must possess good oral communication and customer service skills 15. Ability to be flexible and adapt quickly to new assignments and work under pressure. 16. Exceptional interpersonal skills, including strong public speaking, listening, and interpretive skills.
Preferred Qualifications
17. Knowledge of the campus branding rules; use of color, tone, branding standards and the ability to put these into application. 18. Ability to apply appropriate statistical techniques and methods to research information. 19. Ability to provide lead work direction. 20. Experience working with/in development or stewardship. 21. Experience working in a complex organization such as an institution of higher education.
