RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES: 

Work with the Dean in managing School programs and facilities to support the mission of the School and University in a culture of inclusive excellence. Support the Dean in building external relationships with alumni and other stakeholders and serve as a liaison to internal and external constituents to represent the School. Coordinate with the Dean and others on organizing and managing faculty searches. Assist the Dean, faculty and staff in supporting the mission of the School and building a culture of excellence that incorporates fairness, integrity, creativity, innovation, engagement, and community service. Create and maintain databases related to the school’s students and programs including annual summary reports. Interpret and execute academic policies and regulations of the University and School. Partner with professional advising staff and faculty to facilitate student success efforts, including graduation and retention rates, supporting orientation efforts, and managing student issues. Work with administrative and technical staff in the school and manage special initiatives as needed. Assist the Dean with personnel matters. The Associate Dean is a key member of the Deans leadership team and will be taking leadership on special projects, initiatives and other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: 

Essential Qualifications:

Knowledge of all disciplines and programs in Arts & Sciences. Two or more years of experience in Academic Administration that includes several areas described in the “Purpose of the Position” section above. Demonstrated effectiveness as a member of an administrative team. Ability to positively engage faculty and staff and maintain confidentiality. A proven record of sensitivity to and understanding of an inclusive and culturally diverse campus community. Experience with budget and enrollment management. Quantitative and qualitative analytical skills; strong organizational abilities; and management acumen.

Preferred Qualifications:

Significant experience working in a union environment. Demonstrated excellence in university level teaching, research, community service and student mentoring. Excellent oral and written skills. Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and solve organizational problems. Experience in the CSU system. Ability to lead with a collaborative leadership style.

Hiring Range:  $10,000 - 12,083 per month
