The College of Engineering at the University of Illinois at Chicago is seeking two energetic College Recruiters to attract prospective high school and transfer students. These individuals will play an integral part in the continued success of the university that is ranked 5th overall, 2nd public university in the state of Illinois by U.S. News and World Report.

These Recruiters will ensure the best and brightest students join the College of Engineering family through the implementation of integrated marketing and recruitment strategies as well as individual communications. Through the coordination of print, on-line and social media marketing, these recruiters will elevate the College's visibility and ensure UIC is a top choice for those seeking higher education in Engineering and Computer Science. By representing the college at talent acquisition and recruitment fairs, visits to high schools, community colleges, and through campus tours, the recruiters will have the opportunity to showcase the cutting-edge research and acclaimed academia at the leading public university in the city of Chicago.

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Present and discuss the college and its programs with potential undergraduate students and their parents.
  • Represent the college at events such as UIC Preview Days, recruitment days, college fairs, and all related recruitment yield events as well as visits to high schools and community colleges.
  • Maintain ongoing partnerships through relationships with key personnel at prioritized institutions. Communicate with partners on a regular basis to ensure continuity of the relationship.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with high school guidance counselors, advisors, faculty, potential students and their parents through meetings, networking events and social media to build and strengthen recruitment efforts.
  • Assist with the development of unique and comprehensive marketing strategies across several platforms (print, social media, web, etc.) to promote the college, plus coordinate the college marketing staff the college newsletter publication process (print and electronic formats).
  • Collaborate with college leadership to develop recruitment and yield strategies to attract prospective students. Record and utilize data in Customer Relationship Management technology to maintain contact and for follow up with prospective students.
  • Maintain a comprehensive web and social media presence that markets engineering/computer science programs. Communicate success stories of students through news releases to campus offices and on the website.
  • Field questions and respond to inquiries from prospective students through various mediums (e.g. individual appointments, telephone, email and social networking).
  • Follow up with prospective students, assist them in making progress toward application and enrollment in the college's programs.
  • Assist with Orientation and Summer College sessions.

Minimum Qualifications Include:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of two years work experience; minimum of one year experience in student recruitment, advising, or related area in a higher education setting.
  • High level of familiarity and use of social media.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple ongoing projects.
  • Familiarity with standard office software, project management software and publications software strongly preferred. Knowledge of trends and issues in college disciplines (Engineering and Computer Science) and higher education strongly preferred.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, as well as the ability to situationally adapt the style, tone, and voice. Excellent public presentation skills with experience presenting to large and small audiences. Experience with, and sensitivity to, diverse populations and communication styles.
