Position Summary:
Job SummaryThe digital marketing & communications manager, reporting to the director of design and digital marketing, is responsible for enhancing Susquehanna University's brand awareness within the digital space. In streamlining digital communication strategies, driving website traffic, and growing social media engagement, the manager leads digital marketing campaigns from concept to execution, targeting current students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents and prospective students and their families.

Specific Responsibilities
  • Develop an overall digital marketing strategy to drive online traffic to achieve goals and exceed benchmarks.
  • Monitor, measure, and regularly report on the performance metrics of all digital marketing. Use analytics to extract value; advise on optimizing content and design; and revise marketing tactics for success.
  • Manage the university's website including, but not limited to, design updates, content accuracy, accessibility, and usability, as well as collaboration with internal departments to ensure content objectives are met and align with the university's overall goals.
  • Develop, evaluate, and oversee the implementation of user testing and A/B testing protocols and procedures. Build user journeys. Optimize web performance geared toward SEO in conjunction with the web development team, housed in the Office of Information Technology.
  • Oversee project management of digital marketing and communications deliverables, manage expectations of campus clients, and communicate regularly regarding progress and final review.
  • Oversee university social media strategy across digital channels to grow engagement and amplification through advocacy and other efforts such as, but not limited to, optimizing social media with those assigned social media duties on campus.
  • Oversee digital marketing campaigns through organic and paid advertising with ROI engagement.
  • Coordinate budgetary control for digital marketing and communications, web development and digital advertising.
  • Contribute to content planning and creation, digital storytelling, and related strategies in conjunction with Marketing and Communications staff and other departments.
  • Contribute to content planning and design of the university app, internal portal (mySU) and other digital communications (e.g., enewsletters, digital signs).
  • Identify and evaluate new and future digital technologies to keep the university at the forefront.
    Staffing responsibilities include:
  • Directly manage the digital marketing and communications specialist, as well as lead projects with additional staff or contractors with digital marketing and communications roles or functions.
  • Supervise student employees to assist with web functions, including, but not limited to, web ticket response, and content creation, review, and management.
  • Manage vendor relationships for digital marketing and communications resources.
  • Serve as a liaison with the Office of Information Technology with the web development team staff.
  • Serve as essential staff member for crisis management.

    Required Qualifications:
    Knowledge Skills and AbilitiesAnalytical. Data-driven to improve digital traffic and engagement, with solid knowledge of using analytics tools and metrics.• Creative. Excellent writing skills — listening and understanding. Command of the English language including meaning and spelling of words; and rules of composition and grammar. Proficiency in use of AP Style is preferred. Working knowledge of visual layout and design.• Collegial. Excellent interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work with contacts at all levels of the university to drive growth. Dedicated to contributing to a team and being of service to the institution broadly.• Self-motivated. Focused ability to set priorities, manage and complete multiple projects simultaneously to meet deadlines. Detail oriented and accuracy driven. Ability to utilize project management software.• Strategic. Ability to tailor messages to diverse or targeted audiences. Ability to design based on user experience.• Technical. Ability to utilize software systems, such as web content management and digital asset management. Working knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript development and constraints. Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Audition, Premiere). EducationBachelor’s degree required. ExperienceThree years of relevant experience with managing web content systems, apps and digital marketing, including e-marketing, social media and web communications. Experience optimizing website landing pages (SEO) and meeting user experience expectations. Experience creating and optimizing digital ads, such as Google Ads, social media ads. Expertise with results-oriented communications. Physical DemandPosition requires the ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time, and the ability to move about the campus. Position requires the ability to talk and to hear instruction and use a computer effectively. Position requires the ability to occasionally lift 10 pounds. Working conditions are most often indoors.
