JOB DESCRIPTION:
Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi's IT Business Analysis Manager reports to the Director of Enterprise Applications and leads a team of professionals who ensure that TAMU-CC's Information Technology (IT) applications and systems support TAMU-CC's strategic goals and objectives. This position facilitates people-focused change management strategies to assist with the adoption of projects and initiatives and the changes these activities introduce to the organization while ensuring quality, efficiency, and effectiveness to TAMU-CC's IT data infrastructure.
This position will focus on the people side of change, including changes to business processes, systems & technology, job roles & organization structures. The primary focus will be working with business process owners & project teams to create & implement change management plans that minimize employee resistance & drive faster adoption of the changes impacting employees in the organization.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
IT BUSINESS ANALYSIS TEAM LEADERSHIP (35%)
- Manage employee / team performance by setting objectives, performance metrics and standards and conducting performance reviews and clearly communicates goals and expectations.
- Leads and supports projects / enhancements as needed by facilitating a wide range of initiatives to develop and implement operational business systems.
- Coach, mentor, and implement change management strategies and plans that maximize employee adoption and usage and minimize resistance.
- Proactively identifies improvements to internal work processes / documentation and priority matrices.
- Ensure that all client deliverables meet the organization's quality standards.
- Accountable for the team's day-to-day workload, functions and resources.
METHODOLOGY DEVELOPMENT (25%)
- Supports and implements “people-focused” change management best practices following the ProSci methodology.
- Apply change management process and tools to create a strategy to support adoption of the changes required by a project or initiative.
- Proactive approach to identifying issues and presenting solutions and options, and where appropriate, leading to resolution.
- Focus on business process improvement and procedures across TAMU-CC for both functional and technical customers.
- Organizes workload by planning, managing, monitoring, troubleshooting, negotiating, and reporting the business analyst's effort throughout all phases of a project's / enhancement's lifecycle.
- Analyzes source documents, data base structure, and management report requirements.
STAKEHOLDER COMMUNICATION (15%)
- Represent the IT Business Analysis team within the broader IT function and within the organization.
- Work closely with the business to gain an understanding of business strategy, processes, and services, to create an enhancement roadmap.
- Meet with project teams, IT department colleagues, external vendors, and internal clients to ensure needs are met.
- Develop and manage relationships with relevant stakeholders and their respective requests for analysis.
PRODUCT QUALITY ASSURANCE (15%)
- Understands and works with up and downstream applications of varying size, including the flow of application data.
- Monitoring the progress of projects by tracking activity, resolving issues, and recommending actions; and also providing regular updates on deliverable timeline and project status to senior management and project management.
- Ensure compliance for industry standards based on the needs of the business / data owner for applications and systems requirements associated with any federal, state or TAMUCC business requirements.
- Ensures consistent resolutions for project / enhancement requests and TAMU-CC standards / methodologies; advise on exceptions as needed.
STAFF AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT / OTHER (10%)
- Throughout the year, attend educational workshops; review professional publications; establish personal networks; benchmark state of the art practices; participate in professional societies.
- Proactively learn and utilize new technologies, concepts, and procedures as appropriate to project requirements.
- Reads manuals, periodicals, and technical reports to learn how to develop programs that meet staff and user requirements.
- Adheres to internal controls established for department.
- Performs other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in applicable field.
- Seven (7) years working as a Business Analysis / Project Manager, with 3 to 5 years working as Manager of a Business Analysis or intake team.
- Additional education/experience may be considered as a substitution:
- Associate's & 9 years of experience.
- Bachelor's & 7 years of experience.
- Master's & 5 years of experience.
- Excellent communication, analytical, facilitation and negotiation skills.
- Ability to clearly articulate both problems and proposed solutions.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in higher education, organizational development and / or human resources preferably demonstrated knowledge of higher education organization structure and business practices and the associated systems and platforms (e.g. Student information systems, academic advising, student recruitment).
- Experience and knowledge of change management principles, methodologies, and tools. Ø Experience with implementing applications of all sizes, boutique to ERP level with the demonstrated ability to prioritize and balance multiple tasks or projects.
- Understanding of data security and best practices for balancing availability with security.
- Able to organize/manage multiple priorities and projects coupled with the flexibility to quickly adapt to ever changing business priorities and perform well under pressure.
- Familiarity with project management approaches, tools and phases of the project lifecycle
- Critical thinking and analytical abilities, exceptional communication skills, and strong leadership and collaborative skills, as well as project management skills
- Experience with designing/using documentation for Business Requirements, Functional Requirements / Specifications and Technical Design Documentation. Experience with Business Process Reviews, fit gap analysis and identifying critical success factors.
