Position Description

The Department of Neurological Surgery at UW Medicine seeks candidates for a full-time Assistant Professor without tenure by reason of funding in the non-tenure clinician-educator track. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service. 

The applicant’s primary duties include clinical responsibilities at Seattle Children’s Hospital as a pediatric neurosurgeon, as well as teaching residents, fellows, and medical students. As part of their appointment, the individual will be a faculty member of the University of Washington School of Medicine, Department of Neurological Surgery.

The anticipated start date for this position is July 1, 2022. Assistant Professors in the Department of Neurosurgery have an annual service period of 12 months [July 1-June 30]. 

Qualifications

Applicants must have an M.D. degree (or foreign equivalent). An M.D./Ph.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) is also acceptable.

Applicants must be eligible for a Washington State Medical License.

Applicants must be board certified or board eligible in Neurosurgery and Pediatric Neurosurgery.

Applicants must have completed an Accreditation Council for Pediatric Neurosurgery Fellowships (ACPNF) accredited fellowship in Pediatric Neurosurgery.  

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
