Position Overview:

Teaches, advises and mentors students, evaluates student performance, and maintains department and student records in accordance with university policies. Adheres to the educational philosophy of the university. Works in a collaborative manner with colleagues and professional peers. Participates in university meetings that relate specifically to faculty. Serves on department, college, and university committees as requested. Prepares departmental reports as requested. Engages in teaching, service, and scholarly and/or creative activities as defined by the tenure and promotion policy in the UCO Employee Handbook and UCO Faculty Handbook.

Visiting faculty are employed by the university to teach for a limited time. This is a non-tenure track, temporary position for the 2022 Spring semester only. Service or research may be expected. Salary is commensurate with credentials and experience.

College/Department Overview:

The College of Education and Professional Studies currently has 100 full-time and over 100 part-time faculty organized in seven departments. The college offers 23 undergraduate majors and 28 graduate majors. All teacher education programs are CAEP accredited. Other programs are recognized at the state and national levels with accreditations by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), the American Dietetic Association (ADA), the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA), the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the National Council on Family Relations (NCFR), and the Oklahoma Educational Quality and Accountability Commission (OEQA). UCO's College of Education and Professional Studies has an enrollment of nearly 4,800 students, about one-fourth of whom are graduate students. Department Specific Essential Job Functions:

Assistant Professors must have completed all requirements in a doctoral program at an accredited or internationally recognized institution or completed a non-doctoral degree program requiring a minimum of 60 graduate hours. Instructors must have completed all the requirements for a Master's degree in the area of exercise science or health. Teaching; research; departmental/school, college, and university services is expected. This position is for the 2022 Spring semester only.

Qualifications

Experience/Education Required:

Teaching, research, departmental/school and university service is expected. An earned doctorate degree awarded by a regionally accredited or internationally recognized institution in the field specified in the position announcement (exceptions require Academic Affairs approval). Possesses excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Primary responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses in exercise science, health, recreation and specialty areas and other services courses such as Activity classes, Healthy Life Skills and as needed in the KHS Department. Additional responsibilities include involving students in research, serving on committees, and advisement. UCO is a metropolitan university with a focus on undergraduate education and scholarship.
