Position Summary

Position Information
Assistant or Associate Tenure-Track Professor in the Computer Science Department carries responsibilities in the areas of teaching, scholarship, and service. Teaching assignments are based upon qualifications and preferences of the instructor and the needs of the department. Most courses are undergraduate major courses in computer science. The Department offers a couple of computer information systems courses and a couple graduate level courses each semester. Faculty are required to perform scholarship activities such as technical research, education research, publishing academic works, applying for grants, and mentoring student projects. Required service responsibilities include participating in committee work, student advising, and supporting the department. Minimum Education and Experience
The minimum education requirement for appointment to this position is a terminal degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related field. Candidates nearing completion of the terminal degree may be considered; however, all requirements for conferral of the degree must be met no later than August 17, 2022. Additional minimum requirements are: the ability to teach a broad range of Computer Science and/or Computer Information Systems topics and strong written and verbal communication skills. The Department: The Department of Computer Science offers an ABET accredited bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, an ABET accredited bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems, and a master’s degree in Computer Science. The Department has approximately 400 undergraduate computer science majors, 100 computer information systems majors, and 60 computer science master’s students.
